I have to admit that it's tough to spin this loss in a positive way. Not only have The Cowboys fallen victim to 2 of the last 3 teams they played, they have also fallen victim to the injury bug, and apparently, when it rains... it pours.
- Tony Romo broke his pinky... out 4 weeks.
- Felix Jones and Anthony Spencer strained their hamstrings... 2-4 weeks.
- Mat McBriar fractured his foot... IR.
- Sam Hurd re-injured his ankle... IR.
- Terence Newman's sports hernia problems... 3 weeks.
- Roy Williams, Kyle Kosier & Pat Watkins... 2-3 weeks.
- Pacman's suspension status... undecided.
The question now: Is there a silver lining in these dark clouds?
If all these problems don't put the much needed spark under this team's ass, I don't know what will. The camp cupcake, cocky Hard Knock superstars are learning the hard way that it takes much more than great odds in Vegas to actually get to The Super Bowl.
Dallas now has to put together all that talent, bring some furious hunger and dig out of the quick-sand that they let themselves slip into, and they have to do it with all of those key players sitting on the bench.
Brad Johnson will now lead the offense with his west coast flavor. Definitely not a bad veteran backup to have, he knows this offense well, and although he prefers to dink and dunk there are a lot of playmakers on this team that have YAC up the Ying Yang.
I have confidence that all of the players can step up and finally prove to themselves that they can pull together as a team when they truly need to. There is no better time for it to happen.
Before the season even started, this team was expected to go 16-0, and even in their early wins, they were not doing it impressively enough. The fans' tune will drastically change and now every win, no matter how ugly, will be a miracle.
4-2 is ok for now, and if they can somehow squeeze out 6-3 going into the bye, then they're in pretty good shape. This once thought "easy" stretch of Arizona, St. Louis and Tampa Bay sure looks a lot different up close.
