Next week I will try my best to do this on Friday instead of Sunday morning, but I do want to start giving my picks for every game, every week. Let's get right into it for week 1.
Note, the starred (*) games are divisional match-ups.
1:00 Game Predictions:
*Miami 31 @ Buffalo 17- The Bills have had their share of problems for... ever now, and this year doesn't look too promising either. The Dolphins should handle them nicely.
*Indy 27 @ Houston 20 - The Texans may be the most underrated team in the AFC and Indianapolis is well... Indianapolis... we know what to expect with them. A divisional game, Indy on the road with some offensive line players questionable for the game, hmmm... Maybe I should go with Houston. Nah. Peyton Manning wants the taste of defeat off his tongue as soon as possible and he'll find a way to win... should be a close game though.
Cleveland 17 @ Tampa Bay 6 - Not sure what's going on with Cleveland... not sure what's going on with Tampa Bay either, in fact I'm not even sure who their quarterback is right now. I'm basing this pick on nothing at all, but I think Cleveland will somehow win.
Atlanta 21@ Pittsburgh 10 - Atlanta is a playoff caliber team that has been on the rise since Matt Ryan took over... Pittsburgh is a crumbling team with a suspended quarterback. I gotta go with the Away team. Atlanta will win.
Carolina 14 @ NY Giants 28 - I can see the Giants winning this one. It's their regular season home opener with their brand new stadium providing the atmosphere, the fans are sure to be hype. The Panthers are in a bit of a rebuilding/restructuring period, which doesn't help them in this kind of scenario.
*Detroit 16 @ Chicago 31 - I just don't think Detroit has what it takes right now. Speaking of rebuilding, has there been any team ever that has been in a rebuilding phase longer than Detroit. Chicago is finally putting the pieces together and I think Jay Cutler will have really good year.
Cincinnati 24 @ New England 23 - I just have the feeling this is going to be a really close game and I think Cincinnati may pull off the upset.
Denver 14 @ Jacksonville 10 - I like this match-up and I'm giving the edge to Denver. I think they are going to be scheming well.
Oakland 10 @ Tennessee 33 - I definitely see Tennessee dominating in this game, if for anything, they have Chris Johnson. Vince Young is a potential problem but he's much more of a threat than Jason Campbell is for Oakland.
4:15 Games:
Green Bay 42 @ Philly 28 - Aaron Rodgers is the real deal, what more is there to say. Green Bay is definitely a playoff caliber team with high hopes. Philly is trying to find their new rhythm with McNabb gone... 'nuff said.
*Arizona 21 @ St. Louis 14 - Derek Anderson will be taking over for Kurt Warner although Anquan Bolden is now gone, he still has a weapon in Larry Fitzgerald. Sam Bradford will try his rookie luck leading the charge for The Rams. I think I gotta lean toward Arizona.
*San Fransisco 22 @ Seattle 27 - This is a fairly even match-up. Pete Carroll makes his debut as Seattle's head coach, which should give them some new looks. I'll go with Seattle at home.
SNF:
*Dallas 27 @ Washington 10 - See my previous post, "Week 1 Preview - Dallas @ Washington," for further analysis of this game. Here's a link if you wanna be lazy about it. That Thing I Just Said
MNF:
Baltimore 17 @ NY Jets 24 - This is going to be a good game. Both teams are foaming at the mouth for this victory. The Hard Knock Jets have also started a trash talking match with Baltimore regarding this game, so you can bet it'll get rowdy. I gotta say, I think The Jets defense will be the overall factor.
*San Diego 26 @ Kansas City 7 - The Chargers will take this game, I have no doubts. Kansas City has got a couple things going for it, but really they don't, so go with San Diego.

Success... Sort Of...
I just wanted to interrupt my usual Dallas Cowboys analysis to congratulate myself for this blog. At the end of this month I will have been posting here for 3 years. That may not sound impressive, but for me to actually stick to something like this for 3 years, that is a hell of an accomplishment.
I am certainly not successful in terms of having a huge following, or even having any following at all, but I still love writing about The Cowboys and I'm not stopping anytime soon.
Sure, most of my posts are horribly written, boring to read, filled with grammar and spelling errors and show a basic lack of coherency in general, but every now and then I still manage to write some pretty good shit.
Well, enough of that... I was just browsing through some very old posts I made and reminiscing about times long gone so I thought that I would mindlessly write about all that I have written and how long I had wrote it. Ya dig? I guess that's it... still hype for Sunday. GO COWBOYS!

As I am writing this, I have been watching the final minutes of the West Virginia at Marshall game and oh boy did Marshall screw up. They were up 21-6 in the 4th quarter and blew it. WV made an incredible final run, tying the game with just 12 seconds left.
Marshall couldn't stop them in OT and they ended up nailing a chip shot field goal. Marshall then drove the ball to about the 30 yard line and were forced to kick a field goal... Uh Oh! The kicker sucks! The kick went a tad to the right and just like that, game over.

Week 1 Preview - Dallas @ Washington
The defending Super Bowl Champion Saints continued their winning streak into this season with a 14-9 victory over Minnesota in the 2010 kick-off game. It was great to have real football back on, and it made me even more hype for Sunday night's match-up between Dallas and Washington.
Ah, Dallas and Washington... one of the most intense division rivalries in NFL history, and this year there is no shortage of story lines. Here are a few things to watch for on the Washington side of the field:
- Revenge. Washington got crushed in their last outing and didn't even manage to put a single point on the scoreboard. The Redskins are going to want blood. With this being a home opener and the first Sunday night game of the season, Washington wants more than anything to defeat the much hated 'Cowboys' in front of their fans and start off 2010 with a 'W'.
- New Coach. Mike Shannahan will be changing this team around for the better... I'm not confident that the transformation will be complete this year, next year or even the year after that, but regardless, Shannahan is a good coach with plenty of victories in his future and he will turn around this team at some point.
- New QB. We can't easily forget one of the bigger headlines of the off season and for this game... Donovan McNabb,
the face of the Eagles for over a decade was released and has joined his division rivals, The Redskins. He will be playing with the determination to prove a lot of people wrong about him. He has been as tough of an opponent as they come and I don't expect that the color of his uniform will change that.
- Albert Haynesworth. He received one of the biggest contracts in NFL history when he went to the Redskins last year, but this off-season he has been quite the drama queen. When Mike Shannahan came into town and changed the defense to a 3-4, Haynesworth has done nothing but complain and bitch and now he is on the cusp of being traded because of it. He's still an amazingly talented player and he will play Sunday but will he perform well for a coach who he already despises... could be good for The Cowboys.
As for Dallas:
- Offensive Line Woes. Most likely, Kyle Kosier and Marc Columbo will both miss this game and possibly more. Their backups, Montrae Holland and Alex Barron should play well enough, but the missing pieces will definitely be felt. If the O-Line can't do a good job breaking open holes for the running backs or protecting Romo from blitzes, there will be trouble.
- Dez Bryant, Kevin Ogletree and no Patrick Crayton. Right after the final preseason game, Dallas parted ways with Crayton and now Ogletree will be filling his spot. He's young with potential, but there may be some growing pains. As for Bryant, he hasn't played any preseason games due to his ankle sprain, so it will be interesting to see what he can do now that he will finally be unleashed.
I'm sure there are some other subtle story lines that go along with this game but I think I highlighted the main ones. It's a division game, both teams hate each other and whenever they match-up, anything can happen. Dallas are already 3 1/2 point favorites and I think they have the talent to handle Washington nicely. I predict Dallas 27, Washington 10.

In other Cowboys News... Miles Austin made a huge splash last year, breaking records and earning respect. Yesterday, to show his gratitude, Jerry Jones has given him a 6 year contract extension that is worth somewhere around $55 million. Nice. Did I mention that he's dating Kim Kardashian too? This is a lucky year so far for Mr. Austin, I'm hoping his luck continues on the field.

Are You Ready...?!
It's official, the preseason is over... done... finished... it's time for regular season football, so get yourself prepared.
Go dig out your jerseys and hats. Make sure the fridge is stocked with the beer of your choice. Keep the pizza shop's phone number close by. Place your bets, substitute your fantasy team, study your opponents, work on your Madden skills, smack talk your co-workers and cancel all plans for the next 20 Sundays... this is Football baby and we're getting right back into the swing of things!
Thursday will kick-off the 2010 season with The Vikings versus The Saints, a rematch of last season's Championship Game... it should be good.
Sunday will feature the majority of games, some notable match-ups will be: Cincinnati at New England, Indianapolis at Houston, Green Bay at Philadelphia and of course the Sunday Night Game which is Dallas at Washington. Monday will feature two games, Baltimore at the New York Jets and San Diego at Kansas City.
The anticipation is swelling and the aroma of football is raw and pungent in the air. There is no turning back now... if you can't handle what is about to happen, then I suggest you get ready for The Amazing Race and Desperate Housewives because NFL football will be kicking your ass until February, no holds barred!
As far as The Cowboys going into Washington, it's going to be a nice preview for the season. Both teams will be playing hard as it is a divisional game (and on Sunday night nonetheless.) With Dallas' sloppy preseason play, all eyes will be on them to see if they can flip the switch and be all they can be. Many people have already placed Dallas in the playoffs, but now they have to actually get there. Facing a tough schedule, a victory on enemy turf would be a great way to start the season. Let's go Cowboys, Let's go... LET'S GO!!!

Preseason Week 4 Recap - Miami (25) @ Dallas (27)
And so ends the preseason...
The Cowboys played all reserve players in the final game against the Miami Dolphins, and it didn't look like a bad bunch of back-ups to have around.
Stephen McGee played QB the whole game and did excellent in 2 minute drives. He also had a few nice touchdown passes, which included a 43 yarder to Sam Hurd.
Victor Butler shined, swatting two passes and causes two fumble/sacks in consecutive plays.
Kicker David Buehler gave us fans reason to breath easy. Buehler hit a 51 yarder to tie the game right before halftime, he also hit at 45 yards & 40 yards and nailed a 31 yarder as time expired to give Dallas the victory.
All-in-all, it was a nice game to evaluate the talent left around camp, and I'm sure it made Wade Phillips job of cutting the roster down to 53 that much harder... and speaking of...
The roster was cut down to 53 on Saturday. On friday was probably the biggest roster move as Dallas parted ways with Patrick Crayton, sending him to San Diego and receiving a 7th round pick in exchange.
Since the drafting of Dez Bryant, Crayton was complaining and asking to be traded and he finally got his wish. It will be a bit sad seeing him go, but it's done and now the young players are going to have to step up.
Watkins was also cut in the final roster. Ogletree is moving up to Crayton's spot. Stephen McGee made the roster as a 3rd QB. 2 Fullbacks are retained (Deon Anderson and Chris Gronkoswki) and only 2 tight ends (Witten and Bennet.)
Junior Siavii was cut, which was a bit of a shock but in camp he was apparently beat out by Sean Lissemore. Another bit of a shock was keeping only 3 cornerbacks, Newman, Jenkins and Scandrick. They will be relying on the 6 safeties they kept to play corner if need be. Akwasi Owusa-Ansah, Danny McCray and Barry Church all made the roster as safeties, most will be helping special teams especially Owusa-Ansah who will more than likely be returning kicks. They kept 10 offensive linemen (due to the injuries to Columbo and Kosier) and also have 9 Linebackers, all who you'd expect.

Preseason Week 3 Recap - Dallas (7) @ Houston (23)
You call that dress rehearsal?!
The Cowboys stunk it up on Saturday night against the Houston Texans. The offense could barely get yardage, couldn't get a touchdown (until Jon Kitna came on against the 2nd team Houston defense,) and even the defense couldn't stop the run. It was a not pretty, in fact it was scary.
Of course, it is just preseason, the game doesn't count, the team just broke camp and all the other excuses, but still, if for anything but pride, they should have played better than they did.
I would be a lot more upset had this been a real game, but I'm still not happy with the way everything went down. Mistake after mistake, the front line couldn't protect or run block and I don't know what happened to the defense.
Some key starters were missing due to injury; Columbo, Kosier & Dez on offense, and Brooking and Sensabaugh on defense. I'm crossing every finger I have that these players all get healthy for the regular season, we are apparently going to need them.
Next week is finally the final preseason game against Miami. This is a game that is usually played by only second string talent, but Wade Phillips is considering playing the starters for a few series due to the dismal performance on Saturday night.

Safety Pat Watkins has been released, along with TE Scott Sicko. All teams will have to cut down their roster to 53 by next week.

Preseason Week 2 Recap - Dallas (16) @ San Diego (14)
A win is a win is a win... even in preseason, and no one said they have to be pretty... this one certainly wasn't.
Highlights included a Terence Newman interception early in the game, although the offense couldn't do anything with it and Romo
had the ball intercepted soon after, allowing San Diego's offense their first 7 points of the game.
There was then a Bradie James forced fumble which was scooped up by DB Barry Church, who ran for about 80 yards before he was brought down by Philip Rivers in the red zone. Three plays later, Tony Romo hit Miles Austin for a 9 yard TD to tie the game at 7.
Late in the third quarter, San Diego ran in a 4 yard Touchdown, which was soon answered by a 19 yard TD throw from Jon Kitna to Martellus Bennett, evening things out at 14.
With just under 4 minutes left and San Diego on offense at their own 5 yard line, Victor Butler got a sack and forced a fumble which bounced into the end zone and resulted in a safety, giving the Cowboys a 16-14 lead. The defense was able to deny a Chargers comeback and Dallas sailed to victory.
It was pretty much a sloppy, ugly game and it made me very glad that it's just the preseason. I hope they can tighten up some of these problems they are exhibiting and head into the regular season strong. Time will tell.

Just typing
The preseason will continue for Dallas tomorrow at 8 p.m. against The Chargers in San Diego. This will be game three for The Cowboys, and Wade Phillips has already stated that the starters will probably play for the entire first half, I would imagine they will do the same next week as well and then let them rest for the final game.
The most troubling news of the week was Kyle Kosier getting injured during practice and being out for possibly 4-6 weeks, meaning he most likely won't be back for the start of the regular season. With Marc Columbo still out as well, the offensive line is looking grim. Montrae Holland and Alex Barron are expected to replace Columbo and Kosier for the time being.
People are already freaking out that we shouldn't play Romo because he'll be in jeopardy... let's give them a chance for christsakes, they may end up being pretty good.

In Cowboys Camp...
- Dez Bryant seems to be healing quicker than most people were expecting and will be trying his hardest to play in the final two preseason games.

- Brian Westbrook has finally chose a team to play for and it will be the San Fransisco 49ers who gave him a one year 1.2 million dollar deal.
- Larry Fitzgerald sprained his MCL but expects to play in the season opener.
- Eli Manning got a bloodied head (see picture to the right) during the first game at the New Meadowlands stadium against The Jets. Brandon Jacobs first knocked him in the head during a botched play, then a Jets' DE came around and smashed into Manning from behind... No concussion or any other injury though, just a couple stitches
- Dez Bryant seems to be healing quicker than most people were expecting and will be trying his hardest to play in the final two preseason games.

Today's Edition of Good News/Bad News
Well, the Cowboys are already two days into their training at Oxnard, California and will be battling the San Diego Chargers in the next preseason game. Everyone is getting back into the mix of things but unfortunately the injury bug is sprouting up all over the place... Which leads me to the Good News/Bad News.
Let's get the bad news out of the way:
In Sunday's afternoon practice RT Marc Columbo sustained some sort of knee injury and will probably require 2-4 weeks out. If he heals quick, he may be back just in time for the start of the regular season. We'll see.
On to the good news:
Two injured players are back. TE Martellus Bennett, who had an ankle sprain and was held out of the first two games as well as training camp, was back practicing in Sundays afternoon practice and he did pretty well too. Dez Bryant is also expected back in practices soon and may even play in the final two preseason games. He had a high ankle sprain but he has been recovering quickly and had his walking boot removed this weekend. He claims he feels great. Sweet.
