Camping Out

The Dallas Cowboys have been in training camp for a little over a week now and, as expected, a lot has been going on. Practically every player has reported to camp, the contracts are settled and the pre-season is quickly creeping up.

Adam "(like it or not he's still) Pacman," Jones hasn't suited up since the 2006 season, but so far so good. He's had plenty of victories, as well as defeats in one on one match-ups with Terrell Owens. He also started out punt return drills by impressively catching 6 punts in a row, all while holding onto each ball.

In other drills, there appears to be a possible changing of guards, so to speak. Nose tackle Jay Ratliff has been moved to left end, while defensive end Marcus Spears has been taking reps at nose tackle. Ratliff appears to be questioning this move, and it isn't known what exactly the plans are.

These camps wouldn't be complete without an injury or two, and the Cowboys are not exempt from injury thus far. Cornerback Terence Newman has unfortunately sprained his groin and will be missing at least 3 weeks. The good news is that he should be ready for the start of the regular season. The other good news is that even if Newman isn't ready, we finally have a plethora of depth at cornerback, which will be able to give him plenty of time to recover, if necessary.

The other shocking news of training camp happened on Tuesday. And it was an earthquake. The Cowboys were surprised by a quake that hit a large area around Los Angeles. It woke up some and made others who were practicing, scamper to safety. Thankfully it wasn't devestating and passed quickly.

In other news, it appears that The Miami Dolphins have recruited yet another pair of Cowboys. Recently released veteran wide receiver, Terry Glenn, has been reported as the next Cowboy turned Dolphin. He becomes the 5th player that has shifted from Dallas to Miami, and that's not including all the coaches who did the same.

Also, Miami has been auditioning former Cowboys' quarterback Quincy Carter. Carter, who was cut in 2004, under odd circumstances including a failed drug test, has been playing Arena League Football since '06, so he should be ready to preform.

Football Season is getting closer than ever and we're only a few days away from the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio with The Indianapolis Colts vs The Washington Redskins. Dallas won't be hitting the field until August 9th, when they will travel up the coast to San Diego and face off against The Chargers.

There's still a lot that's going on, and we're not out of the water yet for injuries, trades, or releases. As always, I'll be back to post whenever news breaks.
